Songkran

Songkran in Thailand is celebrated from April 13th to 15th. This festival is the celebration of Thai New Year, according to the Buddhist/Hindu solar calendar. Originally, Songkran was a quiet celebration praising the arrival of the monsoon after the dryness of four months of high season by spraying water on everyone.cleansing

We are still a little under the weather but, we geared up for a water war and put our stuff into baggies and waterproof cases.. headed down to the AO Nang beach. Stopping at a pharmacy for sudafed for me. (Cheap and easy!!)

These pictures were taken thru waterproof covers so, they are not the greatest but, we had to protect phones. Can’t beat em, join em!  Wet chalk abound, and we got a minty shaving cream too! All ages joined in, young and old, Thai or American. Drenched and cool It was hot 94 degrees. All major roads were closed or one way. So, we had to walk... The walk was refreshing while getting pelted with water. At one point, I pulled an ice cube off my head!!! That one was cold!!!

Everyone is in the streets for the festival so the beach was bare.

We headed back and made chicken, potatoes and corn on the cob. With our daily fruit. Now it’s rest time to get rid of this cold. Antibiotics and sudafed on board. Tomorrow will most likely be a pool day.

Showing off my Asia tan line haha!!
